The Como Lake

The ancient and noble city of Como, is the gateway to a natural jewel of Lombardy: The Como Lake. All the walks, share scenic landscapes replete with evidence of a long history of settlement. The landscape retains many aspects: the high pastures in the mountains near the Swiss border to the rugged limestone cliffs Group Grigne, the Dolomites of Lake Como, to the forests of beech, fir and birch running along the ridge. Down from the mountains, you reach the sweet shores climate "Mediterranean", where you alternate the picturesque lakeside villages of Bellagio, Varenna and Torno. Overlooking the water with fishermen's houses in pastel colours, are a maze of alleys and small creeks for berthing of vessels.

Day 1: Como
Individual arrival in Como and time to discover the old town, with its wonderful Duomo, beautiful Romanesque churches and mediaeval town walls . Overnight stay in Como.

Day 2: Como (4,00 hours hiking, +200 - 500 mt.)
Some relax in the morning and then take the cable car to Brunate, a village on the hills over Como. You can start nice walk to Torno, a lovely and little village situated on the branch of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay in Torno.

Day 3: Monte Piatto (4,30 hours hiking, +450 - 450 mt.)
A steady ascent through Torno's twisting alleys leads to a mule track offering increasingly lovely lake views as you follow it up past peach terraces, waterfalls and stone-carved tombs. Drink in the view before a steep descent under wild cherry trees leads down to Torno. Overnight stay in Torno. 

Day 4: San Primo Mount (5 hours hiking, +400 – 700 mt.)
Private transfer to the Natural Park Mt. S. Primo. The hike overlooks the lake and the mythical Grigne, a massif similar to the Dolomites. Nice walk down to Magreglio passing through lush beech forest and the River Lambro Spring. From Magreglio private transfer back to Bellagio. Overnight stay in Bellagio.

Day 5: Bellagio (4 hours hiking, + 380 – 380 mt.)
A little used trail from Bellagio's picturesque promenade leads up a series of stepped trails to the high hill villages of Brogno and Chevrio. In the afternoon discover Bellagio and its hidden corners. Overnight stay in Bellagio.

Day 6: Varenna (4,30 hours hiking, +400 –400mt.)
In the morning transfer by boat to the village of Varenna, one of the most romantic village of Italy. A lovely walk on the "Sentiero del Viandante" (wanderer path) , dips and rises through terraces of olives along the eastern shore to meet the lake in central Bellano. Overnight stay Bellagio. 

Day 7: S. Benedetto Abbey (5,30 hours hiking, +600 - 600mt.)
Transfer by ferry to Lenno. Following the wonderful Via Crucis to the Madonna del Soccorso, the path introduce the ancient way to the Abbey of St. Benedetto, a church of the 12 century hidden in the wood. Overnight stay in Bellagio.

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast,  end of the services.
